What is an Emotional Detox Session?
When we think of a detox, we usually think of doing a cleanse for our body, but it's not just our bodies that accumulate toxins...Our minds do too!
In our culture, many of us believe that negative emotions are not okay, but the truth is we all experience them from time to time.
Most of us weren't educated on how to understand or deal with our emotions, especially our negative ones. Instead, we're taught (probably by example) to shove our feelings under a rug or we were told to "Be Positive!"
Your unresolved emotions are stored in your unconscious mind (also known as your subconscious) and, over time, they determine how you relate to yourself, other people, and the world.
An emotional detox clears the unresolved and negative emotions we've collected over our lifetime.
It doesn't serve you to hold onto the resentment toward those kids who called you names in grade school. Or an "ex" that treated you like crap ten years ago.
Those memories still have unresolved negative emotions attached to them. But, the good news is that the negative energy from those memories can be released.
It's normal to feel anger, sadness, fear, and whatever other emotions you're feeling. You're human! But there's no point in feeling the emotions from things that happened 5, 10, 20... years ago.
When you release these emotions, all the energy you were using to hold onto the past can be used to achieve the things you want for your future.
Releasing negative emotions creates space for you to create new positive emotions, habits, and behaviors.
